He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Chesley Hawkins and Geneva Hawkins (Ordaway); his daughter Brandy Magee (John); his stepchildren, Austin Berry, Kimberly Coon, Karen Metcalf (Robert) and Louie Berry (Laura); his grandchildren, Johnathan, Brendan, Austin, Doug, Ashley and Kirstyn; and his siblings, Jerry, John, Pete, Rachel and Alice. He was also cherished by six great-grandchildren.

Richard loved his work as an auctioneer and volunteered at many charity events.
