He was predeceased by: his stepfather Kern Michael-Brabon; and his aunt Karla Brabon-Dewitt. He is survived by: his parents, Patricia L. Makela, Sr. (Griffen) and Richard P. Makela, Sr.; his brother Richard P. Makela, Jr.; and his stepsiblings, Angela Brabon and Phil Makela.
