He was predeceased by: his daughter Mandy Lynn Benak; and his parents, Robert Benak and Gladys Benak. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Benak; his children, Gary Benak Jr., Michael Benak (Debra) and Lea-ann Terrance; his grandchildren, Joseph Schlick (Patty), Ian Benak (Amber), Robert Benak, Marissa Stone (Tim), Moriah Benak (Brittany), Brian Terrance and Veronica Printup (Ray); and his great grandchildren, Jenna Schlick, Connor Schlick, Jayce Benak, Gwen Benak, Lily Stone, Guy Stone, Violet Benak, Abigail Printup, Violet Printup, Aubrey McQueen and Erian McQueen III. He is also survived by the oldest of 3 children and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
