He was predeceased by: his significant other Lael Sutliff; his daughter Jayne; his parents, Leon and Leah; and his great grandchild Nathan.
He is survived by: his children, Scott, Kelly, Suzette Schmalzried of Levering, Kellyann and Dan O'Hare of Cheboygan; his grandchildren, Jake Schmalzried (Chelsea) of Kingsley, Josh Schmalzried of Pellston, Jack Schmalzried of Levering, Luke Schmalzried (Emily) of Coshocton, OH, Chase Zink of Pellston, Keahna DePauw of Indian River, Dalton DePauw of Indian River and Sydney DePauw of Chicago, IL; his great grandchildren, Sage, Wade Schmalzried of Kingsley, Mason, Lael, Aleigha Jayne and Isaac Schmalzried of Coshocton, OH; and his siblings, Joan Williams of Levering, Mary Dankert of Pellston, Jack Schmalzried (Pat) of Boyne City, Dave Schmalzried (Joyce) of Brutus and Dan Schmalzried (Rose) of Levering. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
