He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Carl MacKellar and Marvel MacKellar (Abbott); his grandfather Orville Abbott; his wife Irene Bowling (Kay) of Dowagiac; his brothers, Richard MacKellar (Sheila) of Decatur and Kenneth MacKellar (Yvonne) of Gaylord; his sons, Bruce MacKellar (Amy) of Decatur and David MacKellar (Vicki) of Middleville, MI; his grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, William and Lauren MacKellar; and his siblings, Marian and Don (Kay).
