He was predeceased by: his grandmother Rayella Riske; and his sister-in-law Stephanie Baker. He is survived by: his parents, James Lakey and Diane Lakey (Riske); his daughters, Chaning Lakey (Randy Wheaton) and Karey Dengate (Jesse); his grandchildren, Lola Wheaton, Luciana Wheaton, Ashley Dengate, Aubree Dengate, Ivy Dengate and Layla Dengate; and his brothers, Jimmy Lakey (Silvia), Gary Baker and Nick Baker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
