He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Karpinski, Sr. and Helen Karpinski; and his brother Walter "Dodge" Karpinski. He is survived by: his wife Marlene A. Thomas; his great grandchild Donovan Thomas Karpinski; his children, Debora Trutsch (Brian), Jacqueline Vignolo (Biagio), William J. Karpinski, III (Tamara) and Michael Karpinski (Diana); his grandchildren, Adam, John, Megan, Eric (Peggy), Astoria, Joseph, Donavan and Kyle; and his siblings, Chris Karpinski, Rick and John Karpinski.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary School or Church, Hastings High School Athletic Department or Buchanan High School Athletic Department.
