He was predeceased by: his wife Deloris Munson; his son Tony Munson; his parents, Mack Munson and Leola Munson; his siblings, Mildred Munson and Herbert Munson; and his siblings-in-law, Clarence Broadax and Lee Ester Munson.
He is survived by: his children, Melvin Munson, Sr., Zinobi Puryear, Vikki Munson, LaJune Munson and Cheryl Harsten; his grandchildren, Melvin Eckles, Azriel Sellers (Keto), Latisha Sellers, Rashaan Munson, Melvin Munson, Jr., Dushawn Harsten, Akeem Price and Kellie Jones; and his siblings, Jeanette Broadnax, Debbie Cosey (John) and Donald Cook. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.
