He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Victor and Marie Leona Shafer; and his wife Bernice Ann Shafer. He is survived by: his children, Mary Bowling (John), Miles E. Shafer, Nancy Heinzmann (Rick), Sally Galloway (Robert), Mark Shafer (Lori), Julie Swartz (Aaron) and Michael Shafer (Jenifer); his grandchildren, Emily (Dennis), Allison, Andrew, Jacob, Carly, Anna, Quyhn, Maranda, Jaxon and Mikella; and his great grandchildren, Cora and Owen. He is also survived by 6 sisters (deceased) and 2 brothers.
