He was predeceased by: his father Luther Ervin; and his daughter Jennifer Ervin. He is survived by: his mother Marie Ervin (Schaible); his children, James Ervin, Jr. of Tennessee and Steph Keenan of New Jersey; and his siblings, Mary Kage (Terry) of Marlette, Theresa Ervin of Lapeer and Luther Ervin (Shea) of Georgia. He is also survived by grandchildren.
