He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurence E. Long and Margaret P. Long; his sister Mary Margaret Eitniear; and his daughter Gina K Long. He is survived by: his son Dane (Stephaine); his wife Marty Long; his sister Diana Boyce; his son Marc Long; and his grandchildren, Brennan Long, Bailey Long, W. Logan Long and Breslyn Long.

“I first knew Bill because he was my brother's best friend. They rode motorcycles together, worked on projects together....everything together. Later, as I grew older, Bill accepted me as a friend too and would include me in things he was doing and working on. He and his lovely wife, Marty, would usually make it up here to Traverse City at least once a year and we'd go out for dinner and catch up. Marty was the great joy of Bill's life and he loved his kids and grand kids with a passion. Ride on”
