Thelma Louise Osborn Obituary
Thelma Louise Osborn (Ryno), 101 of Lansing, MI, passed away peacefully at her home on Sept 01, 2023 from natural causes. Born in Lansing on May 17, 1922, the daughter of Earl Smith Ryno and Carrie Louise Lester, both deceased.
She attended Central High School and was proud to have worked at Oldsmobile during WWII marking shells for the military. Thelma had been married and divorced with two young daughters when she married the love of her life, Vernon Edward Osborn (deceased) on Nov 16, 1946. He raised them as his own and together they had three more daughters. They were together for 53 years.
She loved to travel to CA, FL and TX visiting her relatives and also camping in their little travel trailer in MI state parks. The last third of her life she loved playing cards with family on Friday nights, putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing word search puzzles and she was ready to go to the casino whenever she could. She was so proud that she was still driving until the past year and able to live alone for the past 23 years since Vernon died.
Thelma is survived by her daughters Carolyn (Dale) Woodyard, Connie Hascup, Debra (Stephen) Steiniger, Diane (Jim) Aja & niece Nannette (Gerald) Gordon. She has 10 Grandchildren Lorie Lynn (Liles) DeBar, Duane Edward (Lori) Daman, Susan Jean (Greg) White, Sandra Dee VanWormer, Ronald Eugene (Kristi) Daman, Larry Kay (Shelly) Dahlke, Jr., Chad Aaron Kabelitz, Nicholas James (Nuria) Aja, Jeremy Allen Aja and Joseph Edward Aja, 15 Great-Grandchildren & 26 2nd Great Grandchildren. She gained many "step" Grands along the way including 6 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and 22 2nd Great Grandchildren. For a total of 102 descendants plus 25 spouses.
Thelma was predeceased by her daughter Donna Lee (Osborn) Walker, sons-in-laws James Hays, Larry Dahlke, Michael Hascup, Glenn Walker and Jeffery Gosser. Siblings Jessie (Ryno) Dutter, Myrtle (Ryno) Novak, William Ryno and Lester Ryno.
A memorial gathering will be held in the chapel at East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos, Michigan on Friday, September 29 at 2:00 pm.
