He was predeceased by: his father Kenneth Spooner. He is survived by: his mother Beverly Spooner (Stevens); his children, Derek Spooner and Jamie Lease (Dan); his sister Shari Cassel (Jim); his grandchildren, Grant Lease, Evan Lease and Elaina Lease; his nephews, Nick Cassel (Emily) and Sam Cassel; and his great-niece Beverly Cassel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society.
