She was predeceased by: her husbands, Donald B. Taylor and Robert Peterson; her son-in-law Timothy Hansen; her sisters, Mary Gillam and Helen Miller; and her daughter Althea Carlson.
She is survived by: her children, William Taylor (Susan), Louis Taylor (Linda) and Opal Hansen (Robert Carstens). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
As an extent of Ruth's giving nature, she decided to donate her body to the Willed Body Program at Michigan State University.
