He was predeceased by: his parents, James Otto and Edith Otto (Allen); his sons, Richard Otto, Jr. and Paul Otto; and his brothers, James Otto (Barbara), Allen Otto (Janie), Jack Otto (Barbara) and Tom Otto (Dorothy).
He is survived by: his wife Lorayne Otto; his daughters, Luanne Stilwell (Mark) and Lorie Krebs (Keith); his daughters-in-law, Nancy Otto and Carol Otto; his grandchildren, Jennifer Sunderlin, Heather Tracy (Andrew), Krista Howard (Jordan), Melissa Creamer (Brandon), Leeanne Sanders (Andrew), Rochelle Kueppers (Michel), Kenneth Krebs (Antonette), Natalie Otto-Solace and Delanie Wellman (Jake); and his sister Mary Lou Fahres (Jack). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
