He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Schmitz and Catherine Schmitz (Feldpausch); his son Mike Schmitz; and his siblings, Freda Bauer (Eddie), Stella Kinney (Tom), Agnes Faivor (Tom), Stanley Schmitz (Pat), Donald Schmitz, Richard Schmitz, Justin Schmitz (Sharon) and Eletha Schmitz.
He is survived by: his wife Marcia; his daughter Sue Shulick (Mark); his daughter-in-law Diana Schmitz; his siblings, Maurice (Darlene), Hilary Schmitz (Marcia), Eunice Pung (Clare), Fay Schmitz and Mary Lou Schmitz; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, Sarah, Matthew and Vivian. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
