He is survived by: his wife Evangelist Ruby Mae Carter; his children, Ronnie Carter, Sr., Retina Stewart Carter, Sheila Carter, James E. Carter Jr. (Sonya) and Marlon Carter (Traci); his grandchildren, Manny Johnson, Theoplis Johnson, Ronnie Carter Jr., Shamaria Roby, Derek Carter, LeAngelo Glasscoe, Tierra Williams, Alexandria Walton, Andre Carter, Chase Carter, Bryce Carter, Austin Carter and Dallas Carter; his godson Corey Clay Sr.; his siblings, Barbara Allen, Alfreda Patton, William Carter (Laverne), Carroll Carter (Louise), Mary Bryant (Jeremiah), Bennie McDaniel, Chauncey McDaniel (Cassandra) and Felicia McDaniel; his siblings-in-law, Dorothy Patterson (Emil), Pearl Carter, Robert Clay, E. D. Clay (Willie Ann), Charles Clay (Bobbie), Harry Clay (Lora) and Johnny Clay (Jessie); and also William Crenshaw Sr.. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends including special friends.
