He was predeceased by: his father Clyde Johnson; and his siblings, Raymond (Josephine), Clarence, Jimmy Johnson and Margarite Campbell (Byron).

He is survived by: his wife Eunice Johnson (Harter); his sons, Jeffery Johnson (Bonnie) and Kevin Johnson (Shari); and his nephew Robert Campbell (Betty Lou). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
