He was predeceased by: his parents, Zella Nesbitt and C. H. Austin; his wife Kathryn; his stepfather John Henry Nesbitt; and his grandparents, Wesley, Lula Austin, David and Bessie Hinton.
He is survived by: his children, LaNette Hester (Randall), Herbert Austin, Jr. and André Austin; his grandchildren, Angel Nickerson (Marcus), Jonathan Lawrence (Nyshell), Mariah Lawrence, André Austin (Briana), Steven Lawrence, Ryeasha Hester, Ryanna Hester and Ryaira Hester; his great grandchildren, Joelle King, Olyvia Lawrence, Emerson Lawrence, Imari Lawrence, Luna Nickerson, Sol Nickerson, Azaria Austin, Brylo Saxton and Dayanna Hunt; his daughter-in-law Liz Austin; his brothers-in-law, Willkie Hopkins and Samuel Hopkins (Deanna); and his adoptive daughters, Debra Austin, Tanya Geffrard, Michelle McGuire and Tamie Moran. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
