He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommie Marie Watson and Cicero Marcus Barber, Sr.; his daughter Serika Barber; his brothers, Leland (Glenda Barber) and Rudolph (Eva Barber); and his parents-in-law, Theodore and Thomelia Roper.

He is survived by: his sons, Tommie and Cicero Barber, Sr.; his wife Emma Barber; his children, Derrick Barber, Sr., Stephanie Barber (Steven Sylvertooth), Sonetta Barber, SaLiza (Gary) of Washington, Simona Hayward (Stanley), Sangria Morrell (Ivey) and Sibyl Barber; his brother Michael Barber, Sr. (Juanita); and his parents-in-law, Herschel Roper, Gary Roper (Charlotte), Sally Murchison and Janet Buis. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
