It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Benedict Swanchara (Lansing, Michigan), born in Saint Johns, Michigan, who passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Swanchara and Katherine Swanchara (Sipka); his son Michael Alan Swanchara; and his brothers, Edward and Steve.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Pierce; his children, Bonnie L. Schank (Richard) and Benedict Swanchara (Kimberly) of St. Johns; his grandchildren, Matthew Schank, Jaina Mott (Ryan), Shelby Schank, Rachel Swanchara, Ben Swanchara (Rachel) and Kristal Hayner (Brett); his great grandchildren, Dane, Trey, Maxx Swanchara, Lillian, Grace Hayner, Weston Benedict, Lena Swanchara and Ivan Mott; and his brother William Swanchara (Clarice). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McGeehan Funeral Homes - Keck-Coleman Chapel (1500 Waterford Pkwy, St Johns, MI 48879). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in his name to Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association or to Ovid-Elsie Polka Palace WOES-FM, 91.3 FM.
