He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. II and Alma Locher II (Kauppila); his son William Locher IV; his brothers, Ross and Kirk; and his former wife Carolyn Ann Erdman.

He is survived by: his daughter Diana VanLanen (Joel) of Iron River, His; and his grandsons, Joel VanLanen (Sara) of Appleton, WI and Boaz VanLanen (Ashley) of Shawano, WI.. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
