He is survived by: his children, Katrina Keith (Steven) and Miguel Kanavel; his grandchildren, Kristen, Janice, Michelle and Catherine; and his siblings, Hendrick Kanavel, Patrick Kanavel (Fidele), Laura Kanavel, Keith Kanavel, Meeghan Kanavel and Tammy Kanavel-Wilkinson.
His legacy lives on not only through his contributions to his community and country but also through the lives he touched as an educator and friend.
