He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Sherman and Beulah Sherman (Peterman); and his brother John Sherman. He is survived by: his wife Merry Sherman of Lake; his goddaughter Maura Evans of Arizona; his grandchildren, Christine, Katie, Austin Remsing, Summer and Nick Ackerman; and his great grandchildren, Cameron and Loveina.

Memorial contributions in honor of Richard may be directed to either the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Tunnels to Towers.
