He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Hietala and Ellen "Marie" Hietala (Soli); and his wife Shelly Rickard. He is survived by: his children, Kylie Bianco (Hietala) of L'Anse and Tom Hietala (Katy) of Bend, Oregon; his stepson Tylor Rickard (Kayla Poisson) of Lake Linden; his grandchildren, Kailob and Kenzie Bianco; and his sisters, Sharon Struble (Craig) and Susan Belsito (John).
