He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Bunek and Martha Bunek (O'Brien); his siblings, John Bunek, Gloria Leonard and Emil Bunek Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Sue Bunek and Larry Leonard; and his in-laws, Stephen and Kathryn Frantz.

He is survived by: his wife Theresa Bunek (Frantz); his children, Michele Bunek (Yolanda) and Eli Bunek; his siblings, Marsha Meade (William), Emelia Weber (Jack), Elmer Bunek, William Bunek (Carol) and Julius Bunek (Cheryl); and his sisters-in-law, Marge Bunek and Mary Bunek. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, March 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM. A rosary was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the St. Mary's Church (403 St Mary's St, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at 307 St Mary's St, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653.
