He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Lawrence LaPorte and Bernice M. LaPorte (Sova); and his siblings, Barb Boros and Richard LaPorte. He is survived by: his wife Nancy R. Gardner of Lake George; his children, Cheryl LaPorte of Atlanta, Steven LaPorte of Atlanta, Tracey LaPorte (Crystal) of Atlanta and Kym Gohn (Doug) of Midland; his grandchildren, Chelsea, Camille, Travis, Abbey, Jaxyn and Quinn; and his brother David LaPorte (Monica) of Potterville.
