He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Monie Sr. Shafer and Sarah Shafer (Smith); his wife Norma Sherman; his children, Monie Shafer (Linda) of Lake City, Steve Shafer of Lake City, Roger Shafer (Rhonda) of Forsyth, Lora Tapia (Jim) of Arizona City, Michael Shafer (Kathy) of North Carolina, Cheryl Terry (James), Randy Shafer and Scott (Patti) of Elkhart, Indiana.; his sister Peggy Sumner of Romulus; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Thayer (LeRoy) of Midland and Donna Foxworthy of Manton. He was also cherished by 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great-grandchildren.
