He was predeceased by : his parents, Leo Dewane and Mary Lou Cox (Jorae); his brother Nathaniel; his brother-in-law Lyle Birchman; and his in-laws, Kaye and Helen Potter.

He is survived by : his wife Jane Elizabeth Potter; his son Matthew Cox (Jessica) of Fowlerville, MI; his grandsons, Mason, Spencer and Easton; his siblings, Linda Spawr (Chad), Brenda Birchman, Dennis Cox and Leo "Ron" Cox; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Potter, Donna Potter (Andy Sipka), Jenny Waybright (Jeff) and Alan Potter (Valerie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Homes (232 E Oak St, Ovid, MI 48866). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
