He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Dewane and Mary Lou Cox (Jorae); his brother Nathaniel; his brother-in-law Lyle Birchman; and his in-laws, Kaye and Helen Potter.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Elizabeth Potter; his son Matthew Cox (Jessica) of Fowlerville, MI; his grandsons, Mason, Spencer and Easton; his siblings, Linda Spawr (Chad), Brenda Birchman, Dennis Cox and Leo "Ron" Cox; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Potter, Donna Potter (Andy Sipka), Jenny Waybright (Jeff) and Alan Potter (Valerie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
