He was predeceased by: his son Robert James "Jamie", Jr.; and his parents, Russell Leys and Leta Leys. He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his children, Terri Bonzheim (Richard), Sue Dickson (Ray) and Jason Leys (Jennifer); and his brother Bernie Leys (Diane). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
