He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Gerald DeMaagd and Gordelia DeMaagd. He is survived by: his wife Joan DeMaagd (Klingaman); his children, Karen Droste (Patrick), Shawn Eckhart, Ursula Joy Smith and Thomas DeMaagd (Jessica); his grandchildren, Spencer, Henry, Callie, Kaylin of Gerald Thomas and Brandon; his sisters, Patricia Bixby (Donald) and Susan Reithel (Donald); and his close friend Ken Ploeg. He is also survived by his family, and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans or Rockford Historical Museum.
