He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Nickelson (Laban); his siblings, Robert Nickelson, Gerald Nickelson, Donald Nickelson and Irene Kennedy (Nickelson); and his granddaughter Jordan Nickelson.

He is survived by: his son Craig; his daughter-in-law Kristin Nickelson; his grandsons, Connor and Gage; his daughter Lori; his son-in-law Todd Maleport; his grandsons, Troy (Karla), Jace and Reese (Ashley); his daughter Lisa; his son-in-law Daniel Gelock; his granddaughters, Skylar and Sidney; his great grandchildren, Raelyn, Brielle and Charlee; and his sister Virginia Beardsley (Nickelson).

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
