Susan Marie Lijewski, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Midland, Michigan. Born on May 28, 1953, in Bay City, Michigan, to Howard and Cecelia Chartier, Susan grew up in a lively household with her cherished siblings. She went on to create a beautiful family of her own with her devoted husband, Donald, and their treasured children and grandchildren.
Susan's life was marked by a profound dedication to her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Her husband, Donald, stood by her side in a partnership that was a testament to enduring love. Her children, Jacquelyn (Kevin) Rau, Anthony (Suzy) Lijewski, and the late Amy Katt, were the pride of her life, and she embraced every moment with them. Her grandchildren, Johnathan Katt, Grace, Carter, Kasen Lijewski, and Ian Weldon, brought her immeasurable joy. Susan's siblings, Rosie (Walter) Lijewski, Claudia (Tony) LaFramboise, and Jeff (Debbie) Chartier, shared with her a bond that was both deep-rooted and uplifting. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bevely LaFond, her brother Bruce Chartier, and her daughter Amy Katt.
Professionally, Susan was known for her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. She served as an Activity Director at Bay Shores and Huron Woods, where her creativity and warmth enriched the lives of many. Her time as a caregiver at MCI further showcased her innate ability to provide support and care with a personal touch that left a lasting impact on those she helped.
Susan's interests were a reflection of her nurturing nature. She found solace and joy in sewing, a craft through which she expressed her love and creativity. Her gardens were a testament to her patience and attentiveness, flourishing under her care. Traveling offered her a glimpse into the beauty and diversity of the world; while knitting and crocheting allowed her to weave warmth into every stitch for her family and friends.
Described by those who knew her as loving, selfless, and friendly, Susan's presence was a source of comfort and happiness. Her smile was a warm embrace, her laughter a melody that resonated in the hearts of those around her. She approached life with an open heart, readily extending her friendship and support to all.

Funeral Mass will be January 3, 2025, at 11am from St. Catherine of Sienna with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2pm to 8pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel. A prayer vigil will be at 7pm. On Friday Susan will lie in state at the church from 10am till time of service. In lieu of flowers family has asked for donations to Lupus foundation of American.
