Robert R. Boyd Obituary
Robert R. "Bob" Boyd, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan. Born on July 3, 1947, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Leo and Sophie (Ravell) Boyd, Bob's life was a testament to the power of positivity, a value encapsulated in his favorite saying, "Life is good.".
Bob's journey through life was marked by love, service, and dedication. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, with a notable stationing in Japan. His commitment to his nation was paralleled only by his commitment to his family. On December 17, 1984 Bob married the love of his life, Donna Manning, at the Victorian Chapel in Waterford. Their union was blessed with four children: Kimberley Ann Saberhagen, William Robert Boyd, Julia Marlene Boyd, and Jennifer Lynn Boyd, who in turn gave him the joy of twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Bob's professional life was characterized by his work as an electrician at the Pontiac Truck and Bus Assembly. His expertise and work ethic were highly regarded, and he formed lasting friendships with his colleagues. Beyond his work, Bob was an active member of his community, always willing to lend a hand or share a kind word.
An avid coin collector, Bob found joy in the simple pleasure of discovering and preserving pieces of history. His love for football was well-known, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams surrounded by family and friends. Above all, Bob cherished the time spent with his family and his beloved buddy, Tiger.
Bob's brother, William "Bill" (Mary) Boyd, survives him, continuing the legacy of the Boyd family. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Donna, and his sisters, Donna Whaley and Patricia Cooper. Bob's life was a reflection of the values he held dear: love, kindness, and faith. These principles guided him in every aspect of his life and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Bob, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. His unwavering optimism and the love he shared will continue to inspire his family and friends. Bob Boyd's legacy will live on through the stories told, the memories cherished, and the lives he touched.
