Judy Ann (Russell) Harris Obituary

Judy Ann (Russell) Harris, a devoted wife and loving mother, passed away peacefully in her cherished home surrounded by her family and loyal companion, Sassy, on the Kawkawlin River on February 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on March 24, 1940, in Bay City to the late William and Betty (Richter) Russell, Judy was known for her spirited energy and feisty ability to communicate her thoughts and opinions on any and all subjects. She had a reputation for being outwardly honest.

Judy loved watching the activities on the river, whether it was boating season or snowmobile season; it didn't matter. She enjoyed family cookouts and friend gatherings at her home.

She retired from Bay County after 30 years of faithful service and was described as having a cheery outlook with good humor, and also as finding a "Bouquet of Roses on your desk every morning" by her co-workers.

The Bay City Times newspaper published an article in the 70s about Judy, where she earned the nickname "Tiny Tiger," in reference to her job as the elevator operator and process server, known for her four-foot-eleven stature and spunkiness.

After a brief courtship, Judy married Keith Harris, and they were united in marriage on June 12th, 1998, in a beautiful ceremony at her home on the river. Together, they created a life filled with joy and adventure. They traveled to Florida, enjoyed camping, boating, and even roller blading. However, their greatest shared passion was dancing; they loved to dance and embraced their love through every graceful step.

Judy's spirited personality and unwavering honesty earned her the admiration and respect of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unforgettable memories. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judy is survived by her children Kimberly (Sal) Lovasco, Troy (Sandy) Houghtaling, Trina (Bernie) Brunett, and step-children Lori (Roy) Krzywosinski, Keith (Michele) Harris, Terry (Lisa) Harris, and Diana Harris. She was a cherished grandmother to Matthew Houghtaling, Trista (Pat) Curtis, Candy (Gregg) LaPlaunt, Brandon (Katie) Gates, Jason (Danielle) DeMitchell, Crystal (Bobby) Miller, step grandchildren Bradley Krzywosinski, Kyle Krzywosinski, Haley Harris, Dalton Harris and great-grandmother to16 great grand-children that adored her. Judy's family was her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values of kindness, strength, and importance of family bonds.

Survived by her brother Thomas Russell and Sister- In-Law Marlene Biskner, brother-in-law Randy (Peggy) Harris, sister-in-law Sharon Harris. Predeceased by brothers Gerald Russell, Terry (Linda) Russell, sister Barb (Percy) DuBay, and sister-in-law Sharon Russell, brother-in-law Gary Harris, brother-in-law William Biskner and step-son Tim Harris, whom all held special places in her heart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 5:00 pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel, with Nancy Mayhew presiding. Friends and family may visit at the chapel from 11:00 am until the time of service.
