John M. Freier Obituary
John M. Freier, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at the age of 84, at Pines Nursing and Rehab. Born on August 2, 1940, in Gladwin Twp. on the family farm, he was the son of the late Melvin and Margaret (McGrath) Freier. John lived a life marked by love, wisdom, and selflessness, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
John's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment. He married his beloved wife Linda Johnson on February 16, 1968, at Wagarville Church Parsonage, and together they built a life filled with joy and companionship. Linda survives him, carrying forward the legacy of their love. The bond they shared was further enriched by the arrival of their daughter, Dawn (Jack) Freier-Woods, and later by the joy of their grandsons, Jonathon (Ashley) Freier and Nathan (Maddie) Freier. The family was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a great-granddaughter, Aliyah, in April, a new life to continue John's legacy.
A lifelong dairy farmer, John carried on the family tradition with pride and dedication. His days were spent tending to the land and the cattle, a testament to his hard work and connection to the earth. He was respected by his peers and known in the community for his expertise and passion for agriculture. John's work was not just a job but a calling, one that he answered with diligence and joy.
John's interests extended beyond the farm. He found solace and adventure in the great outdoors, with hunting and fishing among his favorite pastimes. He had a knack for always catching the biggest fish or bagging the largest game, much to the admiration and sometimes envy of his companions. Yet, it was the simple pleasure of going for rides in the buggy with Linda to the river that brought him the most contentment. These quiet moments amidst nature were a source of peace and happiness for John.
John's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, hard work, and the joy of simple pleasures. He was a man of the earth, with hands that nurtured both the land and the hearts of those around him. As we say goodbye to John M. Freier, we celebrate the life he lived and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the legacy he leaves behind.
