Elodia Butters Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing beloved grandmother Dodie, who unexpectedly left us on January 2nd, 2025, at the age of 77.

Elodia was born on July 2nd, 1947, at General Hospital in Bay City Michigan, and she was a lifelong resident of Bay County. She married William DeBoom for a short while. Then, on March 5th, 1976, she married the love of her life, Donald Butters.

Dodie was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter, cousin, and friend who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.

As a grandmother (grandma), Dodie was a constant source of love, wisdom, and support, and she gave hugs and kisses on the cheek to everyone.

Her life was a testament to the importance of family, kindness, and compassion. She loved nothing more than spending time with her loved ones, whether it was through simple moments at home, telling stories, or sharing advice. It was her life's mission to make as many memories as possible.

Dodie was the type of person who had a constant presence in everyone's lives. She would give her shirt off her back to anyone, not just family. Dodie was referred to by everyone as "the world's appointed Grandma.". Her love for life was contagious even after everything life through at her.

Though she is no longer with us in body, Dodie will live on in the hearts of all those she loved and all who loved her. Elodia's memory will be cherished forever, and she will never be forgotten.

Survived by her brother Dennis Rivet Ruby (Nell), her stepdaughter Sherry Thompson (Butters), brother n law James Meikle, her grandchildren Sabrina DeBoom (Baldwin) spouse Paul Baldwin, Cassandra DeBoom spouse Jacob Baker, Ariel DeBoom spouse Travis Giffin, Hannah DeBoom, Kacie (DeBoom) Murray spouse Steven Murray Jr. and Sammi Spangler, her great-grandchildren Piper Baldwin, Kinsin, and Attakus Anger, Brynnleigh Baker, William and Iris Giffin, Colter Poor, and Andres Murray. Two daughter n laws Carrie (DeBoom) Schumacher and Grei Moffett. Many nieces, great- nieces, great great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great great-nephews and lots of cousins.
