Elaine P. Dore Obituary
Elaine Pauline Dore, passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her, on April 9th 2025, at the age of 93. Born on April 19, 1931, to George and Augusta (Ott) Wegener, Elaine's life was one of unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community. Elaine's journey began in Kawkawlin , where she grew up surrounded by her loving parents and siblings. She found her lifelong partner in Fred A. Dore, and they exchanged vows at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on April 26, 1952. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, blessed with seven children: Thomas (Brenda), Michele (Dennis Gwizdala), Donald, David (Kelly), Doug (Dawn), Fred Jr. (Amy), and the late Denise McCartney. Elaine's family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment with her 30 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Although Elaine had held jobs at Evenknit's Cothing, Dow Chemical and as Kawkawlin Township Treasurer, her main love and focus was partnering with her husband Fred in the area of farming and later the founding of Dore Store Corporation, North Pointe Lounge and Dutch Village.
Her unwavering faith was evident in her active involvement with the Prince of Peace church, where she was a cherished member. Elaine's commitment to her community extended to her participation in the Fire Department Auxiliary, Sacred Heart Altar Society, their prayer line and she also served with Meals on Wheels where she offered service , comfort and support to those in need. She truly loved the Lord and looked forward to meeting her Savior.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred A. Dore, her daughter Denise McCartney, daughter-in-law Jodie Dore, and her grandchildren Janelle Raymaker and Walter Schuhmacher III, as well as her cherished parents and siblings. Her memory will be held dearly by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild, and son-in-law Al McCartney, and they will continue to honor her life by embodying the virtues she exemplified.
Elaine's family would especially like to thank all the staff of Sheffield Bay Assisted Living (especially Dori, Alana, Candy, Melissa and Monica) for their love and support to Elaine and her family.
Funeral mass will be on Saturday April 12, 2025 at 11am from Prince of Peace - Sacred Heart Campus with Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton presiding with entombment at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday at Rivertown Funeral Chapel from 3pm till 8pm. On Saturday from 10am till time of mass at church.
