He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold "Hunchy" Niemitalo and Eleanor Niemitalo; and his wife Virginia Niemitalo. He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Wambach (Ken) and Amy Yasneski (Adam); his granddaughters, Sarah, Cori Nicaise and Ailey Yasneski; his great grandchild Luna Standish; and his siblings, Richard Niemitalo (Tammy), Gail Johnson (Leigh) and Faye Kaarto.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Bethany Lutheran Church of Kaleva, Michigan.
