He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sootsman and Cornelia Sootsman (Boodt); his former wife Ruth Allen; his wife Norma Jean (Van Dyke-Chambers); his daughter Linda Sootsman; and his sisters, Dorothy Kindy (Carroll), Ruth VanderWeele (John) and Genevieve Geschwendt (Arvin).
He is survived by: his sister Henrietta Rich (Gene) of Zeeland; and his children, Daniel Sootsman of Plainwell, Keith Sootsman (Casey) of Kalamazoo, Richard Chambers (Terri) of Portage and Terri Brogan (Jack) of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
