Verne R. Wandell Obituary
A Celebration of Verne's Life will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bellflower, 4700 D Ave W, Kalamazoo. Those wishing to make a lasting gift in Verne's memory are asked to consider the Audobon Society, or American Cancer Society, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 75, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 12, 2024. Verne was born in Elmira, NY, the son of Lavern and Katherine (Butts) Wandell. On February 14, 1992, he married Lorrie Gaunt who survives him. Verne was an avid scuba diver, downhill snow skier and photographer. He enjoyed travelling. Verne worked in television production as a videographer and editor. He was an auto race official for many years with SCCA. Verne loved his chosen career. He was kind, loving and caring, always considerate of others. Nothing was more important to him than his family. He kept in constant contact with them. He was focused on being a good man and father. He especially loved his grandchildren. Besides his wife, Verne is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Alex) Witt and Lauren (Lou Wall) Wandell; grandchildren, Owen and Adeline; sister, Mary Boorum; nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Verne was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Michael Boorum.
