We are sad to announce that on October 16, 2021, at the age of 40, Tanya E. King (Kalamazoo, Michigan), born in Manhattan, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her grandfather Albert Battle. She is survived by: her sister Yolana; her parents, Sharon King of New York City and Anthony "Tony" King (Joanne) of Kalamazoo; and her grandparents, Charles, Georgie Edmonds and Julia Best. She is also survived by step-brothers and sister; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.

“Tanya was a beautiful person. She was the first Edmonds’ grandchild and we adored her. She spoke in perfect sentences as a small child, I would braid her hair. As she grew into a teenager, she loved shopping at the Staten Island mall. She had her own unique style. Tanya would come to the family’s Thanksgiving and Kwanzaa celebrations, she had a beautiful spirit. Tanya loved cats and the arts, she loved dance, poetry and she loved to write. We thank God for the time that Tanya was here.”
