Susan A. Nelson Obituary
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Susie will be laid to rest with her mother and grandparents at Nottawa Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to SPCA of Southwest Michigan, or an animal shelter of your choice, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 75 of Kalamazoo, passed away on Saturday night, January 11, 2025. Susie was born in Sturgis, MI, on April 6, 1949, the daughter of Bruce and Doris (Brecheisen) Nelson. Susie was an avid pool player. She played in several pool tournaments throughout the state and even in Las Vegas. She had many friends she made while playing pool who have remained life-long friends. In recent years she relied on these friends to help her keep playing pool. Susie was also a great card player and taught other residents at Bickford Senior Living how to play. She loved doing crafts and always had a hobby. She could loom knit and loved making scrubbies, even while in her assisted living facility. She was a hard-working person and made providing for her family a priority. Susie was a kind and selfless person, always putting others before herself. Nothing was more important to her than her "babies", otherwise known as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special bond and relationship with them. Susie is survived by her children, Tammy (Dan) Mazure of Kalamazoo and Ron (Heather) Miller of Richland; grandchildren, Chandler (Lanie) Mazure, Chelsea (Andy Smith) Mazure, Nicholas (Morgan) Miller, Jarrett (Brielle Davenport) Miller; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Danny, Kade, and Brynlee; sister, Sally Ream; nieces and nephews; and many friends, including her four-legged friend, Daisy May. Susie was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Roger Ream; and her former four-legged friend, Buddy Lee.
