Stephen C. Jenkins Obituary

Age 79, passed away Friday morning, September 27, 2024. Stephen was born in Battle Creek, on July 18, 1945, the son of William F. and Ruth Ann (DeFrain) Jenkins, Sr. Stephen proudly served his nation in the United States Marine Corps completing two tours in Viet Nam. On February 17, 2012, he married Sharon Lynne Buitendyk who preceded him in death in 2023. He worked for many years as a police officer, first with the Battle Creek Police Department, then with Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, then in Colorado with the City of Steamboat Springs. He ended his over 30-year career with the Pennfield Township Department. He was an exemplary police officer. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and scuba diving. He was an avid motorcyclist. He and Sharon took many trips on his Honda Gold Wing. He loved spending time with his family. Stephen is survived by his son, Vegas Jenkins; Sharon's children, Todd (Connie) Hardy, Kim (Joe) Ludy; grandchildren, Cameron Ludy, Collin Ludy, Quentin Ludy and Vivian Ludy; sister, Jackie Starkey; brother, William F. (Jadine) Jenkins, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
