He was predeceased by: his parents, Eamonn Cooney and Gertrude Cooney. He is survived by: his wife Chotiros Permpikul; his daughter Tara Roisin; his former wife Kay Takahashi; his children, Hugh (Gigi), Michael (Sarah) and Tamar (Eric); and his grandchildren, Shane (Rachel), Andrew (Chelsea), Leah, Jackson, Nathaniel, Mika, Alex and Jordan Martin.
