He is survived by: his parents, Dale Wierenga and Sue Wierenga (Bolle); his spouse Caren; his children, Michael DeBat (Kasey) of Livonia, CariElin Biland (Brad) of Mattawan and Gregory Wierenga (Bridget) of Kalamazoo; his grandchildren, Avery, Audrey, Sara, Alan, Alaina, Adrian and Lincoln; his siblings, Mary Bailey (Dave), Anne Wierenga and Mike Wierenga (Jamie); and his siblings-in-law, Sheri Shon (Dave), Marcia Miyagawa (David), David Nieuwenhuis (Cheryl) and Mark Nieuwenhuis (Brittany). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
