Ron will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Date and time of service to be announced shortly. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 79, passed away Friday morning, September 22, 2023. Ron was born in Coldwater, on October 26, 1943, the son of Lewis M. and Fern (Davis) Marvin. On August 3, 1991, he married Judith "Judy" Tupper who survives him. Ron proudly served his nation in the United States Air Force. Ron was a career police officer. During his career, he served on the Detroit Police Department as an undercover narcotics detective, homicide detective and Harbormaster. Later he served as Chief of Police in Gobles. He also worked for the Farm Service Agency as a Field Assistant. He served on the Planning Commission of Almena Township. In his spare-time he enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, umpiring baseball and softball. He also liked playing the guitar. He was an avid Red Wings fan. Nothing gave him more pleasure than being with his grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Lauri Jo Marvin, Tracy (Steve) Wanamaker, Candice (Jerell) Veney, Chris (Marleny Polonia) Hawley, Jamie (Joshua) Tuin; grandchildren, Carter, Carley, Hannah, Lindsey, Morgan, Jeremy, Darren, Paige, Elijah, Chloe, Joshua, Tavon; siblings, Lewis "John" Marvin, Rae Adele (David) Fellows; sisters-in-law, Brenda Marvin and Laurie Tupper; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elmeda Pate, brothers, Bernard K. Marvin and Roger (Kathy) Berry.
