Bert Kreg, age 84 of Kalamazoo, passed away late Friday morning, October 18, 2024. Bert was born in Kalamazoo on January 28, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Marilyn (Bowen) Ketcham. She was the second oldest of five children. Bert graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School where she enjoyed playing softball. She also met the love of her life while playing softball on a local church league. On March 27, 1959, she married Lyle Kreg who survives her. She loved sports her entire life and played soccer well into her 60's. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and travelling. In their retirement she and Lyle, enjoyed wintering in Florida. Bert liked painting in acrylics. Bert was a devoted home maker and loved to bake. She was well known for her delicious desserts. She and Lyle worked diligently to attend the sporting events of their children and grandchildren. She was very devoted to her grandchildren. Her bright blue eyes would light up when they came to see her. Bert had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with others. Besides her husband, Bert is survived by her children, Ken (Laurie) Kreg, Karen (Mike) Fisher and Char (Ken) Madison; grandchildren, Alex Kreg, Hayley Kreg, Maddie (Cody) Knuppenburg, Austin Fisher, Corbin Fisher, Morgan (Adam) Coonrod, Landon (Kayla) Fisher, Andrew (Shannon) Madison, Ben (Alex Murray) Madison; great grandchildren, Evelynn, Ellie, Josie Coonrod, Archie Knuppenburg; siblings, Sharon Hjelm, Larry (Donna) Ketcham, Gayle Stuck; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends, including a special friend, Patty Anderson. Bert was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Connie Ketcham; brothers-in-law, Harvey "Bud" Hjelm and David Stuck.
