He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Hartman and Virginia Hartman (Edwards); and his sister Bonnie Hartenbower. He is survived by: his children, Beth Hartman (Herb), Brenda Hartman (Dana) and Dave Hartman (Rachel); his grandchildren, Ben Green, Abby Green, Zoe Bowers and Claire Bowers; his great grandchildren, Sahra and Halley Rubino; his brother Fred Hartman; and his niece Nicole Bryant.
