Norman A. Baxter Obituary

Age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, with his family by his side. Norm was born on March 19, 1938, the son of the late Wesley T. and Eulily (Garrow) Baxter. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, joined the Army National Guard upon his honorable discharge from active service and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Reserves in 1998. On December 23, 1961, Norm married the former LaVon McHenry, who survives. Together they shared 61 years of marriage. Besides LaVon, Norm is survived by his children, Tracey (Ken) Fowler and Tom (Carol) Baxter; grandchildren, Jenni (Jesse) Godbold, Aubree (Phil Dujardin) Scarff, Tim Scarff, Rachael (Jack Wagner) Scarff and Amanda (Jay) Secreast; great-grandchildren, Sonya, Autum, and Sean; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Robert Baxter and his sister, Sally Dent. In accordance with Norm's wishes, cremation will take place and no service is scheduled. The family would like to thank Debbi from Comfort Keepers, Centrica Care Navigators Hospice staff and Warren from In-Home Companions for their wonderful care of Norman during his final days. Memorial contributions may be given to Centrica Care Navigators.
